Burnley vs Liverpool 01/01/2018

01 Jan 2018

Burnley will be eager to test themselves against a side that is rolling into some good form.
Mohamed Salah’s brilliant brace saw off a spirited Leicester, extending Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 12 games, a stretch which they also netted 34 goals. The Egyptian wonder has scored 17 goals and set up another five in 21 Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

Overall, the Reds have gone 15 games without defeat in all competitions, their joint-longest unbeaten run under Jurgen Klopp. They are also looking to win for the first time away from Anfield on New Year’s Day since 1994.

Liverpool will be encouraged by the fact that they have lost just three times to Burnley in 18 meetings in all competitions, keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.

Burnley may be flying high, but the truth is that they could go five league games without a win for the first time since a seven-match streak between February and April 2017.
Burnley defender James Tarkowski is available to face Liverpool after serving a three-match suspension.

Stephen Ward could miss out again with a knee problem, while Chris Wood remains doubtful with a leg injury.

Salah could be a fitness doubt after limping off during Saturday’s home win over Leicester.
Simon Mignolet is expected to play at Turf Moor as manager Jurgen Klopp continues to rotate his goalkeepers.
