Bordeaux vs Nice 27/09/20
27 September 2020
Bordeaux and Nice go head-to-head at the Matmut Atlantique in a potentially low-scoring Ligue 1 affair. Indeed, eight of their previous nine league H2Hs have featured under 2.5 goals, including the last six.
Bordeaux’s unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season (W1, D2) was brought to a halt last time out as they lost 2-1 to newly-promoted Lens on Matchday 4. Before losing to Lens, ‘Les Girondins’ had kept a clean sheet in three league matches in a row, all of which also featured under 2.5 total goals. Going back to February, all five of the hosts’ previous home Ligue 1 games have ended in a draw, four of which contained under 2.5 goals. A lack of firepower up front has seen Bordeaux draw a blank in four of their last seven home league matches! In turn, four of Nice’s previous five top-flight visits have produced a stalemate (L1), with three yielding the identical 0-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the visitors have gone from back-to-back Ligue 1 wins to two consecutive defeats, with the last three of those results (wins/losses) yielding at least a two-goal margin. Notably, Nice had gone unbeaten in six successive Ligue 1 trips (W2, D4), all of which featured under 2.5 goals, before succumbing to a 3-1 loss to Montpellier. Curiously, despite finding the net in ten (76.92%) of 13 away league games back in 2019/20, ‘Les Aiglons’ could only manage to score 1.00 goals on average per Ligue 1 trip last season. Improving that record against Bordeaux could be daunting, considering they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in all six of their previous top-flight H2Hs (W3, D3).
