Bolivia vs Venezuela 23/06/19
23 June 2019
Venezuela and Bolivia will face-off at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte in a match the Venezuelans have to win to qualify for the knockout phase.
Nailed to the bottom of Group A with two defeats and a -5 goal difference (S1, C6), La Verde have virtually no chance of qualifying for the knockout stage. Interestingly, both of Bolivia’s two Copa America outings have seen a draw at the halftime, with Eduardo Villegas’ men conceding over 1.5 goals in the second half on both occasions. They are now on a nine-game winless run (D3, L6), mainly thanks to some disastrous displays in the final third. The Bolivians have not only struggled to find the net in six of those nine matches, but they have managed to score over 1.5 match goals only once in the remaining three games. Another worrying fact for Bolivia is that they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in six straight matches, allowing two or more goals in the last three.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelans have played out two draws at the tournament so far, with both of those games ending with the same 0-0 scoreline. Although they’ve suffered just two defeats in 2019, La Vinotinto have not enjoyed the best of times recently, securing only two triumphs since the turn of the year (W2, D3, L2). Interestingly, four of those games have featured over 2.5 goals, while another four saw both teams score. Rafael Dudamel’s men now have to pick up a win against the team whom they’ve managed to beat only once in their previous five H2H meetings (W1, D2, L2).
Notably, all four of the previous H2Hs between these two nations have produced over 3.5 goals, with three of them witnessing both teams score a minimum of two goals.
