Austria vs Germany 03/06/18

3 June 2018

Austria will host Germany at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt looking to end a disastrous 9-game losing streak against the neighbors while seeking their first win over Die Mannschaft since 1978. Thanks to Alessandro Schopf’s first-half goal, Austria have secured a 1-0 victory over Russia earlier this week, their third in 2018, extending the winning streak to six consecutive matches. Despite the fact, Das Team failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia, they’ve raised their game after the end of qualifications, defeating Russia, Slovenia, and Uruguay in the process, but the encounter against Germany will be their hardest test so far. Joachim Löw’s team are going through a crisis, as they are yet to win a game this year. Prior a 1-0 loss to Brazil, the DFB Eleven played out three straight draws against Spain, France, and England, and Löw is desperate to get his side back to winning ways before the World Cup kick-off.

Franco Foda will have all of his key players fit and ready for the big showdown, including three Bundesliga stars, Baumgartlinger, Alaba, and Burgstaller, as well as Austria best striker, Marko Arnautovic. As for Germany, Jerome Boateng and Mesut Ozil are expected to skip the match due to some injury issues, while Toni Kroos should remain on the sidelines after helping Real Madrid win their third consecutive Champions League title.
