Amiens vs Olympique Lyonnais 14/09/19
14 September 2019
Weekend’s Ligue 1 (L1) action kicks off at the Stade de la Licorne where Amiens take on Olympique Lyonnais.
The hosts are not enjoying the best of times, having lost three of the opening four L1 matches (W1, L3). All of those defeats have seen Amiens concede precisely two goals, with two of them ending with the same 2-1 scoreline against their favor. Les Licornes have yet to score inside the first 45 minutes of the L1 football played so far, with all three goals they’ve netted so far coming beyond the 70th minute. Even though they’ve already allowed six league goals this term, Amiens’ defense has been virtually impenetrable in the first half, as five of six goals they’ve conceded so far arrived after the halftime break. The one thing that can comfort the home fans is that Amiens lost just one of their previous ten L1 home games (W5, D4, L1), with all five of those triumphs being settled by a narrow one-goal margin.
On the other hand, the visitors have started the new season off on the right foot, securing back-to-back wins, in which they’ve scored nine goals and conceded none. However, they are winless in their last two L1 outings (D1, L1), with both of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals and witnessing the opener between the 30th and 45th minute. None of Lyon’s last seven L1 away games have ended in a draw (W4, L3), with four of those wins seeing Sylvinho’s score precisely three goals per match. Notably, Les Gones have won each of their five away H2Hs with Amiens across all competitions, three of which have seen them win to nil.
