Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt go head-to-head at the Allianz Arena in the DFB Pokal semi-finals in what promises to be a ‘high-scoring’ affair. Indeed, all of their seven previous competitive H2Hs have featured over 2.5 goals, with the last three seeing at least one on both ends and at least six in total.
The hosts have been a force to be reckoned with since the turn of the year, winning all but one of their 16 competitive fixtures since the calendar flipped (D1). Notably, 11 of those 15 triumphs during that 16-game sequence have yielded a margin of at least two goals, with nine seeing Bayern keep a clean sheet, too. In turn, the ‘Bavarians’ have picked up nine wins in their last ten home fixtures in all competitions (D1), notching up over 2.5 goals on seven of those occasions. Another success is most definitely on the cards here, considering that Hansi Flick’s men have outplayed Frankfurt in 11 of their 12 previous home H2H meetings (L1), all competitions included.
As for the visitors, they’ve endured mixed fortunes since Germany’s top-flight returned to action in May (W2, D1, L2), with four of their five matches producing over 2.5 goals. Yet, ‘Die Adler’ have overseen an upturn in away results lately, going from five consecutive road trips without a win (D2, L3) to back-to-back triumphs, both of which have seen them find the net at least once beyond the hour mark. However, Frankfurt’s defensive problems when they hit the road could throw a spanner in the works on the prospective success here, as they’ve shipped at least one goal in 18 of their last 20 away matches in all competitions.
