Atalanta and Internazionale go head-to-head at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in the final round of the 2019/20 Serie A season, as the two sides battle it out for the second-place finish.
The hosts have hit the ground running since the resumption of football, as they come into the final round on the back of a 2-1 comeback win over Parma. Indeed, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have won nine of 12 Serie A fixtures since the restart (D3) to bring their unbeaten run in the league to 17 (W12, D5). Notably, ‘La Dea’ have netted an average of 3.5 goals across those 12 victories and scored a total of 42. If Atalanta score two goals here as they did in 14 of 18 Serie A home fixtures this season, it would see become the first team to smash a 100-goal barrier since 1950/51. However, the Bergamo-based side managed to put two past Inter only once in their last six top-flight H2Hs (W1, D3, L2).
Meanwhile, a 2-0 home win over Napoli at the midweek means Inter are unbeaten in seven Serie A outings (W4, D3), keeping a clean sheet four times during that run. Moreover, the ‘Nerazzurri’ have based their away success on a robust defense that remains the only one yet to allow 20 league goals on the road this term (19). Aside from a tight marking, Antonio Conte’s men have showcased their scoring potential post restart, bagging 2+ goals in all five of their Serie A trips since the resumption of football (W3, D2). In fact, only one side have scored more league goals on the road than Inter (39) this season, with the majority (58.97%) of them arriving after the break (23).
