Armenia and Italy go head-to-head at the Republican Stadium as part of their 2020 UEFA European Cup qualifying campaign.
The hosts are yet to play out a draw after the opening four qualifying fixtures (W2, L2), with both of their wins arriving in the previous two outings. Also, both of Armenia’s results at home have seen the rivals divided be a multiple-goal margin with one of the opponents failing to find the back of the net. Also, none of Armenia’s last five competitive home games has ended in a stalemate (W3, L2). While all of their wins in that sequence witnessed them score 2+ match goals, both of those defeats have seen them struggle to get to the scoresheet. The Collective team will now face Italy in a competitive game for the third time, having failed to prevail in the last two H2H meetings (D1, L1).
Meanwhile, the visitors are the only nation in Group J to pick up four wins at the beginning of the qualifiers. Three of those triumphs have come at home with two of them seeing Gli Azzurri beat their rivals by a comfortable multiple-goal margin. Italy’s only road win has come against Greece (3-0), and it was their second straight away victory following the one over Poland in the UEFA Nations League. However, Roberto Mancini’s men have struggled to secure three points in the preceding five trips across all competitions, friendlies included (D1, L4). Their main issue when away from home has been a lack of goals, as they’ve scored one goal or less in eight successive trips before the aforementioned success against Greece.
