Rock-bottom Watford travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City frantically looking to bring a disastrous 11-game losing streak in top-flight H2Hs to a halt.
The reigning holders have already yielded four points this term (W3, D1, L1) and are currently trailing the Premier League (PL) toppers Liverpool by five points. Therefore, Pep Guardiola will be desperate to see his team bounce back following a shock 3-2 away loss to Norwich City last time out. Virtually untenable in the final third, the Citizens have already netted 16 league goals this season – more than any other side in the PL. They’ve bagged 2+ match goals in each of the opening five PL fixtures, scoring at least one goal in nine of ten halves of the PL action so far. Judging on their home form since the turn of the year, the home fans can sit back and enjoy as City won ten of 11 PL home games in 2019 (W10, D1), beating their opponents to nil seven times across that period.
Meanwhile, the Hornets head to the Etihad where they went down in eight of ten visits in all competitions since the turn of the new millennium (D1, L8). Frustratingly for the traveling side, they’ve conceded at least two goals in each of those defeats, failing to hit the target on five occasions in the process. Watford’s form can’t encourage Quique Sánchez Flores either, as his men are yet to register a single PL win this term (D2, L3). Nailed to the bottom of the table, they are one of four teams who are yet to keep a clean sheet in the 2019/20 campaign, with their last PL away blank sheet dating back to the beginning of February.
